ROUGH LAYOUTS

These are some of in-progress images for the cover. The colour palette, positioning of the drawing and format of the typography are not yet decided here, but the basic tone is coming closer to what I have in mind. So far the media used include pencil for the drawing itself, and Photoshop for colour and editing.

I thought the first eel looked very small and underwhelming on its own, so experimented with making it larger, changing its positioning on the page and adding a faint repeated image, which seems a 'cheap' tactic to me but adds visual interest (also reminiscent of some of the techniques used on one of the later Invisible Cities covers). I think this would be better gauged with the addition of text.
